Megan Colby

My name is Megan Colby— head coach of the Linn-Mar Varsity Poms. I have been involved with dance for a little over 15 years now and I am eager to keep that number going.

My background starts with The Dance Company, where I actually learned my first pom routine ever! From there, I was a part of the Linn-Mar Pom program for all four years of my high school career. I then became a member of the Dance team at Iowa State University the following four years.

Once I moved back to Marion with my husband, Steve, and our puppy, Baby Lou, dance continued to be a part of my life, when I accepted the head coaching position for the Linn Mar JV Poms in 2017. Now here I am, in my second year of coaching. How exciting! I look forward to growing with my team as we rebuild this year, working with my wonderful assistant, Sami, and hoping to continue the legacy that the LM Poms have always seemed to have, as a nationally ranked team.

Let’s go Lions!

Sami Herrera

Hi everyone! I’m Sami Herrera, the assistant coach for Linn-Mar Varsity Poms. I was on LMVP for the 2013-2016 seasons, and was also an assistant coach for the 2018 season.

I currently attend the University of Iowa, majoring in Health and Human Physiology on the Pre-Dentistry track. I am actively involved in the Dance Club at the University of Iowa, where I continue to express my passion for dance. I plan to graduate after the Fall 2019 semester. I reside in Iowa City, with frequent trips back to Cedar Rapids to see my family and of course, my favorite group of girls.

Dance has always been a huge part of my life and continuing that by coaching Linn-Mar is a dream come true. I can’t wait to see what the girls can accomplish this year, and more importantly the memories that we will make as a team!
